BOM: references, values and purchasing information
The converter creates a BOM CSV from recognized component facts. Review the source references, values and any explicit manufacturer part numbers. A value such as 10k does not identify a unique purchasable resistor, tolerance or package.
Check missing parts and deliberately unpopulated positions against your assembly variant. Do not assume that a component list extracted from a schematic has the same population options as the final board. Group or map columns to your assembler’s template only after checking the underlying rows.
Pick-and-place, centroid and position files
These names commonly refer to component placement data: a reference, coordinates, rotation and board side. The converter can generate a placement CSV from explicit source positions. A schematic or netlist alone cannot supply those positions.
The recipient may use a different coordinate origin or rotation convention. Check at least one asymmetric component on the top and bottom sides. Pay special attention to pin 1, connector orientation and mirrored bottom-side placement; a plausible-looking number is not proof of correct orientation.
Gerber and drills describe the bare board
Gerber layers and drill files provide manufacturing geometry. They do not replace a checked purchasing list or component placement table. If your manufacturer accepts ODB++ or IPC-2581, confirm exactly which assembly information they expect in that handoff.
Use one saved board revision for all exports. On pcbx.tools, select several outputs in one upload, then review each result separately. Success for one output does not establish that every other requested output contains all required information.
Before sending the package to an assembler
Resolve differences with the manufacturer before ordering. Keep the conversion reports with your internal review files so omitted or unsupported source information remains visible.
- Match populated reference designators between the BOM, placement CSV and board.
- Confirm coordinate units, origin, rotation conventions and top/bottom sides.
- Fill missing ordering information from verified component data.
- Inspect the complete fabrication layer set and drills in a suitable viewer.
