What this conversion is for
Move the supported PADS ASCII board subset into KiCad. The ASCII export must include the package and connection definitions used by the layout.
Convert supported PADS ASCII files to KiCad project (board and schematic). Select more outputs to get them in the same job.
In development — results may be incomplete or inaccurate.
Shared editor engine for supported board and authored schematic profiles. Coverage and independent qualification are reported separately.
The contents of your file determine which information can be preserved. Each result includes its own conversion notes.

A package for each successful output, plus conversion notes. If an output cannot preserve the required information, its result explains why.

Use a PADS ASCII board export containing decals, padstacks, placement and routing records. Retain the original units and version header.
Compare copper shapes on each layer, centered slot dimensions and angles, component values, disconnected routing islands and technical layers. Source copper is restored only when identity and geometry checks agree; unsupported mask/paste or padstack differences can still block output. Import success alone does not certify manufacturing correctness.
Review actual Value and manufacturer part attributes, net names, technical layers and drilled pads. Supported Classic ASCII records include simple decal copper and centered slots within checked orientation limits. Source per-layer copper can be restored when identity, connections and geometry agree with native import. Mask/paste rules, offset slots, custom shapes and unresolved mismatches can still block physical output; a recognized hole alone does not establish a usable board export.
Identify ambiguous .brd, .pcb and .dsn files before conversion. Learn which PCB files contain layout, manufacturing layers or electrical connections.
